De-Ice Systems for Satellite Antennas

W.B. Walton Enterprises Inc. (Also known as Walton De-ice) designs and manufactures the broadest line of equipment available for preventing the accumulation of snow and/or ice on satellite earth station antennas.

The original De-Ice products designed by W.B. Walton Enterprises includes a behind the antenna plenum (enclosure) which is heated with hot air. These systems for antennas ranging in size from 3.7-meter to 32-meters in diameter. While there have been some product refinements over the years, to make these systems more efficient, and easier to install, the same basic concept is still in use today. Walton De-ice offers several options for heating including, gas heaters with their economical operation advantages or the low maintenance Stainless Steel Electric Heaters. A line of de-icing products called the Snow Shield was designed, and are being manufactured for antennas ranging is size from 0.6 meters to 6.3-meters in diameter. The Snow Shield consists of PTFE coated material or the new Architectural fabric that will outperform any other cover currently on the market. Both have a very low coefficient of friction, stretched over the satellite antenna. The Snow Shield can be used as a passive system, or a heating system or Ice Quake System can be added for a higher level of protection. For more information on the Snow Shield click here:

The Ice Quake system (U.S. patent) enhances the reliability of a passive snow shield cover. Now you can de-ice a 4.5 meter antenna with only 100 watts of power, a 2.4 meter antenna with only 50 watts of power For more information on the Ice Quake system.

  • Unique hot air enclosure (Plenum) design mounts behind antennas - from 3.7 to 32 meters.
  • Most reliable and economical system on the market.
  • Uniform surface heating minimmizes distortion losses - unlike electric pad or heat tape anti-ice systems.
  • Electric, natural gas, or liquid propane heater options to best fit your needs.
  • Field-proven Ka-band electric and gas systems.
  • Automatic heat and moisture monitoring and control system.
